For The Love of Snowdrops

For The Love of Snowdrops

For the Love of SnowdropsLyn Milesgarden ‘Westcroft’ near Salisbury, Wiltshire specializes in Galanthus with over400 named varieties as well as other spring flowering bulbs. The ‘Yellow Book’ description, written by anassistant county organiser a few years back still sums up the garden;

"Westcroft’s ⅔'s of an acre of wildernessparadise is much loved by wildlife but not excluding weeds! Enjoy a pond,sun-baked terraces, colour-themed herbaceous planting and naturalised chalkbank with Orchids and climbing roses over old fruit trees. There are specialistdisplays of Snowdrops, Hellebores, Pulmonarias, grasses and other unusualplants especially those rich in nectar."

Lyn has been giving talks to localgroups and societies for many years. Although she used to talk on a range ofplant families whilst she had slides and a slide projector, she now just doestalks on Snowdrops using digital images! Lyn’s talk ‘For the Love of Snowdrops’includes lots of stories, what Galanthophiles get up to during the season,events, garden visiting and of course some snowdrops!

Welcome to East Surrey Alpine Garden Society

Alpines are small plants packing a large punch – shrubs, small bulbs, herbaceous plants and orchids from all over the world that are at home in a rock or small woodland garden, hardy in UK winters, or offering stunning displays in an unheated greenhouse or frame.

We're a friendly bunch meeting each month to share and encourage cultivation and interest in alpines. We can offer information and inspiration, with illustrated talks by enthusiastic speakers, often world authorities in their field.

As well as that vital opportunity to pick other people’s brains over a cuppa, you can enjoy our display table, and have a pop at the raffle.

Gardener, photographer, plant hunter, mountain walker, or couch gardener, everyone is welcome. Admission is £1. (Annual Membership just £7). We are affiliated to the national Alpine Garden Society (http://www.alpinegardensociety.net)

We meet
on the Third Tuesday of each month at Christ Church Hall, Christ Church Road, Epsom, KT19 8NE . Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.45pm start.

There is a car park outside the Church. We are 3/4 mile from Epsom Station, and it's 5 minutes on the E10 bus towards Stamford Green, departing from stop N at the station to the Church.
