Little SPACE Pilot:

Is an off shoot of our established LGBT+ youth support service, SPACE, little SPACE aims to provide a safe environment for children under the age of 13, who are trans, gender variant or questioning their gender identity.

This has been set up in response to requests from parents, schools, local authority, mental health professionals and national organisations to support children of this age in relation to gender identity.

Staffed by:

LGBT+ Service lead, Level 3 Playwork Qualified LGBT+ Counsellor and play therapist, LGBT+ apprentice

The aims of little SPACE:

-To provide a safe environment for children to explore and be themselves

-To provide fun games/ play/ craft opportunities

-Opportunity for children to express themselves in more depth if they wish

-Children to meet others who might have similar experiences

*Children can also access 1:1 support if they wish to discuss their gender identity in more depth, using creative methods and play to express themselves.

Purpose of the group for the children:

-Define it with them, group agreement

Accessing the Service:

Sign up through EventBrite for initial group/ event

Referral from CAMHS/Schools/ GP/ Social workers or other professional working with the family

Others that are interested, arrange a meeting with parent and child to find out where they are at.
