Title of the public lecture:

Supporting the emotional wellbeing of young people in out-of-home care: What do we know and what can we do?

About the speaker:

Dr Rachel Hiller is a research fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath. Her research looks at how we can improve support for the mental health and wellbeing of young people who have been exposed to complex trauma, including those who have been removed from their family home and placed in the care system. She is particularly interested in understanding what processes might predict how a young person copes after they have experienced trauma, and how we can improve formal and informal support systems. In her research with young people in care, she works closely with the young people, their carers, and service-providers, to understand some of the challenges and opportunities for improving outcomes for this group.
