Computational Generalism - Making the Right Tool for the Job

Computational Generalism - Making the Right Tool for the Job

Posted on behalf of The Tuesday Group

Event Description

The IStructE Tuesday Group invites you to join us at the Apex Hotel for a fascinating talk on the topic of computational engineering presented by Format Engineers

Format believe that engineering can benefit from engaging with computation as a more generalised tool for assisting with design, rather than being locked into a series of closed software tools for specific tasks. In the earliest stages of a project, engineers can propose side-by-side structural concepts and concepts for how to compute these. In summary we should design and make the right computational tool to aid in the creation of the right structural solution.

The presentation will describe some of our steps in this direction and the project-specific benefits that emerged from this approach.
