About British Dragonfly Society

The British Dragonfly Society (BDS) was founded in 1983 by a small group of dragonfly enthusiasts and scientists. We have three main aims:

  • Carry out and support research on dragonflies
  • Conserve dragonflies
  • Engage the public with dragonflies and their wetland habitats.
We run a number of training and volunteer days throughout the year that we hope you will join in with! There are 10 Dragonfly Hotspots across Scotland, all of which are fantastic sites to visit to see dragonflies - find out more here:
