The NHS website recommends (to compliment medical approaches) learning relaxation techniques and talking therapies, like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) , to help manage the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
In this course, I have combined all that I know about:-
1) Mindfulness and Meditation
Meditation is scientifically proven to provide deep relaxation for both the body and mind.
Each weekly session will include
- A Group Guided Meditation experience to help you to deeply relax
- A recorded guided meditation session for you to listen to at home and keep forever.
- Tuition and guidance with your meditation practice to help you to maximise the benefit from your meditation practice.
Meditation is an exercise and does not require any change in religious or spiritual beliefs.
2) Understanding the condition
I have been researching the latest findings into fibromyalgia, and each week we'll be exploring the condition to help you to have a much better understanding and also a deeper personal insight of your experience of the condition. We'll be looking in detail at the emotional impact of being in chronic pain, and considering the following 2 important questions -
Question 1 - “is fibromyalgia being caused, or at the very least being compounded/made worse because of our current emotional state and/or earlier difficulties in life?”
Question 2 - “If we work on improving our emotional well-being, what would be the impact on the symptoms of fibromyalgia?”
3) Developing our emotional well-being and resilience
My work as a clinical therapist and personal coach means that every day I am helping people to overcome earlier emotional adversity and current health difficulties in their lives, and move on to live full, happy, and content lives.
I started my career in therapy due the challenges that I experienced, which led me to really struggle with my own mental health, particularly with anxiety and ultimately depression.
Because of this, I have a real passion for helping people to work through the challenges they have faced and live happily.
We'll be using a wide range of psychological theory and techniques and group therapy to provide support throughout the course.

4) Support Group
This is a support group, where you will be able to give and receive support to others that experience fibromyalgia too. Understand how they manage their condition and symptoms and offer any advice to people that can understand the day-to-day realities of managing chronic pain.

This course is designed and intended for open-minded people that are able to attend the full 6-week programme, and that are able and willing to consider, work on, and improve; the emotional well-being impact that a chronic pain condition undoubtedly has.
The numbers are strictly limited to 12 attendees to ensure that everyone receives the support and attention that will be needed to make the course a success for everyone.
It is also a support group with other like-minded people that have a similar experience to you. It goes without saying that you would not be expected to share any personal information about yourself; however, an open, supportive, and encouraging attitude and mindset is required for group discussions.
Your investment for the full course is £117.00 and will include:-
6 x 2 hour group sessions
8 x self-hypnosis sessions, specific to fibromyalgia, for you to keep to help develop your meditation practice.
and 10% discount for any 121 therapy with Craig, if you feel its appropriate.

Important information - booking terms and existing health conditions.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition and is treated in a number of different ways.
Mindfulness, meditation, talking therapies, and personal development are all recognised ways of helping people manage the day-to-day stresses of life and also overcoming emotional adversities. This course is intended to support specifically people that experience fibromyalgia, by using these strategies.
This is course is not a "magic cure", "quick fix", or "silver bullet".
This course is intended to help you with your emotional well-being through mindfulness tuition and support. It is not intended to replace any medical treatment that you receive elsewhere and you should not make any changes to any medical treatment that you have been prescribed without first consulting your doctor.
If you have any concerns regarding the suitability of the course for you, please contact Craig Fookes initially and speak to your usual GP.
If you are currently receiving counseling or any form talking therapy elsewhere, this course is intended to complement that work; however, you may like to discuss this with your therapist before joining.
As a professional therapist, my client's individual emotional well-being is always my primary concern. I will also have the same responsibilities for all attendees of the group. Working on our emotional well-being can sometimes be challenging in itself. Whilst I feel that the following information is incredibly unlikely to ever be needed, it is important that I add the following information:-
I reserve the right, in the best interest of the individual and of all members of the group, to ensure that the work we carry out in the group would not be counter-productive to an individual's overall emotional well-being. In summary, if at any time, I feel that this course is not suitable for you, I will discuss privately with you and I will refund the remaining session fees if in the unlikely event that this course is not suitable. As you would expect every possible effort will be made to ensure a very positive experience for all attendees is achieved.
Finally, if you have experienced psychosis, epilepsy, or schizophrenia or take medication for any of these conditions, please discuss the suitability of meditation techniques prior to booking and discuss with your GP/Psychiatrist and also Craig Fookes before booking.
