Mnemophrenia - Free film screening

Mnemophrenia - Free film screening

Posted on behalf of Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies, University of Essex

You are cordially invited to the screening of Mnemophrenia, a science fiction drama directed by our Senior Lecturer in Film Studies, Dr. Eirini Konstantinidou. The screening is open to all University of Essex students and staff.

Mnemophrenia is about a new psychosis that arises from advanced virtual reality technology, which causes people to be unable to distinguish between real and artificial memories. The film explores how society is affected by and how it adapts to deal with mnemophrenia and the still advancing technology. We see the story unfold over time, exploring how attitudes to Mnemophrenia would differ from person to person and across generations, going from resistance and fear, through acceptance and eventually even using it to our benefit, pushing humanity towards a new evolutionary step.

Mnemophrenia had its World Premiere at the 44th Boston Science Fiction Film festival and won the Festival Director's commendation award. It will be widely released on Amazon Prime/ Instant Video late October 2019.

"Need your faith in indie films restored? Look no further than Mnemophrenia. Eirini Konstantinidou is someone to watch."  Garen Daly, Director, Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival
