Dogs Trust Shoreham Fun Day 2020 CANCELLATION - and Rehoming Centre Update

Following the latest Government advice to avoid mass gatherings and continue social distancing, Dogs Trust have made the difficult decision to cancel all of our events, including the Dogs Trust Shoreham Fun Day, which was due to take place on Sunday, 24th May 2020, for the foreseeable future.

We have not taken this decision lightly as we love seeing everyone and their dogs enjoying the events, but the health and well-being of our supporters, staff and community is of the utmost importance to us. In regards to this, we’d like to thank everyone for your very kind intention to support us and will hopefully be able to see you at an event later in the year.

In Addition, Dogs Trust 🐶 Shoreham is currently closed to walk-in members of the public. However, we just want to reassure you that all of the dogs 🐕 are being well cared for - and are getting extra fuss and attention 🥰 (as they rightly deserve!) from our fantastic carers and trainers, who are committed to them 💛

Having been asked by some people as to whether the closure has impacted on our Canine Care Card scheme, we also want to reassure you that this free service is available, should the need ever arise. If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to ask us!

Meanwhile, in the current climate, we also want to give some other welcome distractions to entertain you (and your dogs) 🤩. We'll be popping these up here 💻 from time to time, so please keep an eye out for them.

For the time being though, thank you for your continued support 🙏🏼 and stay safe!

With best wishes,

Pia Offord & Lisa Herbert, Supporter Relations Officers at Dogs Trust 🐶 Shoreham

Love Dogs Forever by remembering Dogs Trust in your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will can be a wonderful way to make a significant difference to the 300+ dogs coming through our doors annually here at the Shoreham rehoming centre – as well as the thousands of dogs in our care across the UK & Ireland. Legacies play an important role in ensuring that we can continue our vital work - just knowing that we can count on our supporter’s help well into the future, while costing you nothing in your lifetime!

No matter if the gift is monetary or a so called “Gift in Kind” where a specified item is left to Dogs Trust (for example property, jewellery or such), all donations mean that we can continue helping all 15,000 lost or abandoned dogs coming through our rehoming centres each year.

In addition, many friends & family members of dog-loving supporters decide to make donations to Dogs Trust in memory of their loved ones. For this we have specifically branded “In-Memory” donation envelopes as well as donation pots available, which clearly confirm where the donations will go to at funerals.

If you would like to have a confidential chat about leaving a legacy to Dogs Trust or find out more about any of the above mentioned, please don’t hesitate to call local Supporter Relations Officers Lisa & Pia at Dogs Trust Shoreham on 01273 466 971 or email &

Calling all Businesses: Learn how Dogs Trust can help your clients!

As part of our role as Supporter Relations Officers, we often come across people who worry about what would happen if they were to die before their dog. Many responsible owners know that it is vital to make provisions for their furry friends to be properly looked after, if they were no longer around.

Thankfully, the Dogs Trust Canine Care Card scheme is a fantastic free service that can give everyone peace of mind, knowing that Dogs Trust will care for their dog(s), should the unforeseen happen. Once signed up, the wallet-sized card will inform people of the owner’s wishes for their dog(s), should anything happen to them.

Promoting & informing their doggie-owning clientele of this free service is a great way for many businesses to help not only Dogs Trust, but also the community! We can supply any local business with a stock of our Canine Care Card leaflets – explaining the scheme and how to sign up for it – along with a dispenser to display them in.

Get to know your local contacts! For more information about the scheme and to meet your local Supporter Relations Officers, Pia & Lisa, we would love to invite you (and your colleagues and /or group of interested friends!) to our Shoreham Rehoming Centre for a tour or our facilities!

Please phone 01273 466971 or email or to learn more!

Did you know our Shoreham rehoming centre offers 'paw'some bespoke community presentations?

Dogs Trust Shoreham is continuing to offer their free service of community engagement talks to adult group meetings situated anywhere in East and West Sussex.

The presentations cover the history of Dogs Trust, how staff at the Shoreham Rehoming Centre care for up to 400 dogs each year and includes details about some of the national campaigns that the UK’s largest dog welfare charity works on, such as puppy smuggling and their Home from Home fostering scheme.

Supporter Relations Officers Pia and Lisa also organise ‘behind the scenes’ tours of the rehoming centre.

Pia said: “The presentations are vital opportunities to spread the word about what Dogs Trust does and they encourage community engagement throughout the county.

Lisa added: “Each talk can be tailored to the needs of the group and is both entertaining and informative, with lots of videos and photos of our furry friends.”

Bookings are available on weekdays and evenings with the potential of weekend bookings too. If you would like any information about booking a talk or tour for your community group please email Pia & Lisa on and or call them on 01273 466 971.

Let your care and love for your Dog/s live on

“Dogs do not make our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

— Roger Caras

When you’re not here to love them, know that Dogs Trust will be!

The Dogs Trust Canine Care Card is a FREE service that gives you peace of mind, knowing that Dogs Trust will care for your dog/s if you pass away before they do.

If you’re a Canine Care Card holder & should pass away, we will arrange to bring your dog/s to our nearest rehoming centre. Upon arrival they will be examined by our expert vet and cared for by our dedicated, trained staff.

We will find your dog/s new owners whose lifestyle and experience match their needs. But if for any reason your dog/s cannot be rehomed, rest assured Dogs Trust never puts down a healthy dog, so we will look after them for the rest of their lives.

We love to talk about Dogs (Trust) – Free Talks

We really do love to engage with our supporters wherever possible and enjoy a good chat about Dogs (Trust :) ) & the vital work our organization does! So it’s not much of a surprise that we can offer FREE talks to community groups as well as organize behind-the-scenes tours of our beautiful Shoreham rehoming centre.

Talks can be fit for purpose to your individual group, with PowerPoint presentations of any length. They are fun and informative – and of course come with a selection of different literature for participants to take home. Where possible, we can even bring along a friendly four-legged resident!

If you would like to book a speaker to hear about the work of Dogs Trust, our history and our plans for the future – or to have a special behind-the-scenes look at our rehoming centre, please do get in contact with our Supporter Relations Officers Lisa & Pia at tel 01273 466 971 or email & !
