Dusk Memory Walk 2020

18 April, 2020 - 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join hundreds of others in a gentle walk to celebrate life, remember aloved one and raise money for Dorothy House.

The Dusk Memory Walk is a 5km circular sponsored walk. It starts at theHospice at 7pm and ends as daylight begins to fade. We invite you and the wholefamily to come along – including the dog!

When you sign up to do the walk, we’ll send you a paper candle bag and adedication label. You can personalise both with a message or picture. At theend of the walk, we’ll invite you to light a candle so your message shines outover the grounds of the Hospice.

How it works

Entry for the Dusk Memory Walk is £12 for adults and £5 for anyone underthe age of 16. A family ticket costs £30 (two adults and two children). Thewalk is a sponsored event. We don’t specify a minimum amount, but we’d love youto raise as much as you can.

If you’d rather not raise sponsorship, we’d be most grateful if youcould donate instead. We suggest £28 per adult, but that’s just a guideline –the amount is completely up to you.

Registration opens at 6pm and the walk starts at 7pm.

What’s the route like?

The walk is 5km, starting and ending at the Hospice.

Part of the walk will be through fields and could be muddy so pleasewear sturdy footwear. There are a few gentle hilly sections. We regret that theroute is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Dorothy House Hospice Care

Dorothy House Hospice Care is a leading, independent charity and in 2017 was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), placing it in the top 6% of adult social care providers nationally. DHHC provides free, palliative and end of life care from early diagnosis and operates across 700 square miles, serving a population of 550,000 people. We are a key provider of services for Bath and North-East Somerset (BaNES), Wiltshire, and Somerset Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Specialists in complex palliative and end of life care, DHHC aims to pioneer its delivery of best practice care and support, tailored to the needs of patients with life-limiting illness, their families and carers.

The majority of our care is delivered in the home and the community including our Nurse Specialist teams working in partnership with GPs, a growing Hospice at Home Service and support through our Outreach Centres and 1,300-strong volunteer network. DHHC also provides inpatient care, pre-and post-bereavement support, rehabilitation programmes, complementary, creative therapies and more.

Our aim is to equip individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills to respond to life-limiting illnesses with dignity, compassion and - above all - humanity. Education and training are at the forefront of this work: We run programmes and events for health and social care professionals, and increasingly, the wider community around death and dying.

Providing our services requires significant funds and for every £1 from the NHS, we have to raise £4. We do this through our work in fundraising, our 28 shops and education programmes. www.dorothyhouse.org.uk
