The DorothyHouse Santa and Elf Run is back on Sunday 5 December at Bath SpaUniversity! Last year, the hospice was unable to host this amazing event,so this year the team are doubling their efforts! It plans to be anunforgettable, fun and festive event for the whole family, all while raisingvital care here in our community.

ThisChristmas-tastic family fun run is open to all ages and takes place along a2.5km course through the beautiful grounds of Bath Spa University; via scenicfootpaths, a “castle”, a lake and even a garden temple! Participants can chooseto do the 2.5km route once or twice to make it a 5km run.

The entry feeis £7.50 for children aged 2-11 (who’ll receive a free elf hat to add to theirown elftastic outfit) and £15 for participants aged 12+ (who’ll receive anamazing ho, ho, ho Santa hat, beard, jacket and trousers). There is no entrycharge for Santa’s little helpers aged under 2.

Friends andfamily are very welcome to come and cheer on the Santa and Elf Run along theroute as the runners pass through the grounds of Bath Spa University.Refreshments will be available for supporters to buy from the jolly Refectory.

Dorothy House Hospice Care is a leading, independent charity and in 2017 was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), placing it in the top 6% of adult social care providers nationally. DHHC provides free, palliative and end of life care from early diagnosis and operates across 700 square miles, serving a population of 550,000 people. We are a key provider of services for Bath and North-East Somerset (BaNES), Wiltshire, and Somerset Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Specialists in complex palliative and end of life care, DHHC aims to pioneer its delivery of best practice care and support, tailored to the needs of patients with life-limiting illness, their families and carers.

The majority of our care is delivered in the home and the community including our Nurse Specialist teams working in partnership with GPs, a growing Hospice at Home Service and support through our Outreach Centres and 1,300-strong volunteer network. DHHC also provides inpatient care, pre-and post-bereavement support, rehabilitation programmes, complementary, creative therapies and more.

Our aim is to equip individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills to respond to life-limiting illnesses with dignity, compassion and - above all - humanity. Education and training are at the forefront of this work: We run programmes and events for health and social care professionals, and increasingly, the wider community around death and dying.

Providing our services requires significant funds and for every £1 from the NHS, we have to raise £4. We do this through our work in fundraising, our 28 shops and education programmes.
