Adapting Luton for Access to the Arts

Posted on behalf of Caroline Wallace

This is a conference introducing people to the social model of disability, with a speaker from Shape Arts and discussing how Luton can be made more accessible for people who identify as disabled. It is being carried out in conjunction with the Bus Lane Archeology Exhibition in Departure Lounge, across the road from the conference venue https://departure-lounge.org.uk/

It is intended to be a friendly event, sharing the knowledge of people who work in the arts and in the community. It is supported by The Arts Council of England, Luton Borough Council and the Culture Trust.

It is for people who identify as disabled, Artists, Curators, Venues and Event Managers and all those interested in this topic. We are intending to develop information about best practice for Luton.

If you have any special requirements and are intending to come to the event, please email me.

JU JITSU ADULTS ONLY, 1st lesson FREE

Posted on behalf of Houghton Regis Ju Jitsu Club

We are a friendly, martial art club we train in a safe controlled manner. We practice a traditional but highly effective form of self-defence embracing modern concepts of jujitsu. The techniques we train were used to great effect by samurai warriors on the battlefields of ancient Japan and are still used today in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

These techniques are taught to army and law enforcement personnel, and borrowed heavily from Martial Arts like Krav Maga, so to us traditional means tried and tested!

We believe jujitsu is a complete martial art that encompasses; striking throws, locks, ground fighting, and weapon defence.
