Zippy and Me: An Evening with Ronnie le Drew

Over the course of almost half a century, puppeteer Ronnie Le Drew has worked with the greats - from David Bowie in Labyrinth to Michael Caine in A Muppet Christmas Carol. But the role that really defined his career was Zippy in Rainbow, a puppet which he operated for more than two decades.

Celebrating the release of his new book Zippy and Me, join Ronnie for a very special talk about his life and work, from behind-the-scenes gossip from the set of Rainbow to overcoming the prejudices of his parents who didn’t think ‘dolly-waggling’ was a viable career.

The evening will include cameos from some of the most important puppet characters of Ronnie’s career, clips from the shows and an opportunity to ask questions and to have books signed.

Beastly Belle

Be charmed and surprised by a new twist on an old tale, inspired by the iconic era of 1920s and 30s cinema.

Our young heroine Belle is plucked from a life of poverty by Merill, a greedy film producer who sweeps her off her feet and into fame and fortune in the movies. Caught up in the glitz and glamour, Belle forgets her roots and is ensnared by a world obsessed with good looks - but looks aren’t everything, right?

A journey of discovery which explores perceptions of physical beauty and how two strangers can overcome their differences. Will Beauty come to understand and accept the Beast?

Featuring a skilful mix of puppetry, film, projections and an original musical score.

Moonbeam on a Cat's Ear

“Knock, knock, knock.”

“Who’s there?”

“It’s Toby Toby with the bright red hair.”

In the middle of the night Rosie, Toby Toby, the cat and the mouse sneak out to play in the shadow of the apple tree. When Toby Toby steals the moon from the sky they go on an adventure across the stars and the sea. But, is it all just a dream?

Based on the book by author and illustrator Marie-Louise Gay, written in French (Voyage au Clair de Lune) and English, Moonbeam on a Cat’s Ear is a visual journey into an exciting world of dreams and imagination.

Rumpelstiltskin and the Snail of Destiny

Poor Polly Buckwheat, the Miller’s daughter, is in a bit of a pickle! If she doesn’t turn a roomful of straw into gold by morning, the greedy King will turn a bit nasty. Should she accept the kind help of an eccentric dwarf who mysteriously appears in her prison cell?

Rumpelstiltskin has got to be the most mixed up of fairytale characters. He is helpful yet demanding; secretive yet nosy; short yet owning a name as long as his beard. Not surprisingly, this story of transformation will make you laugh and gasp at the same time!

Using its trademark puppets, music, storytelling and transforming sets, Widdershins creates gold on stage with this new version of the Grimm’s classic tale.
