Uzbekistan is the jewel of the Silk Road, an ancient country of deserts and mountains where merchants, pilgrims, and warriors made their mark on the glittering cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. The magnificent architecture of these UNESCO World Heritage Sites is matched only by their dazzling decoration: gold leaf interiors, mosaics, and hand painted tiles. Having cast off its Soviet past, Uzbekistan is now once again open to the world, inviting curious guests to discover not only its impressive built environment but also its intangible cultural heritage. Your tour includes Uzbekistan’s world famous historical sites, of course, but also the timeless workshops of silk weavers and potters, knife makers and miniaturists, who are preserving age-old techniques.
If you can't make this particular tour, but want to find out more about this amazing destination, you are welcome to come along.
