Sunflower Celebration

Join us for this year's summer Sunflower Celebration.

Please click here to make a sunflower dedication.

To mark the beginning of Summer, we would like to invite our supporters to join us in creating a field of sunflowers in our Hospice garden to celebrate happy memories with our loved ones. Throughout June, the beautiful wooden sunflowers will be displayed, each bearing the name of a loved one for whom a dedication has been made.

On Sunday 9th June at 14:00, a blessing will be held within the Hospice grounds for all sunflowers on display. After the service, we hope you will be able to join us for afternoon tea and if you wish, you may choose to take your sunflower home to keep as a personal memento.

If you are unable to attend the service or prefer to view your sunflower at a later stage, the gardens are open throughout June and you are more than welcome to visit at any time. Should you wish to collect your sunflower after Monday 1st July, please contact the Fundraising team on 01256 848848.

By making a donation to the Hospice in this way, you will enable us to continue to provide our specialist care to patients and their families facing life limiting illness in North Hampshire.

Farleigh Wallop Woodland Walk

Enjoy a beautiful walk in the Hampshire countryside

Registration is now open!

Join us on either our 5 or 10 mile country walk through the exclusive grounds of the prestigious Portsmouth Estate at this year’s Farleigh Wallop Woodland Walk. Throughout the walk, you will be surrounded by bluebells and glorious views of the Hampshire countryside, before being greeted with a well-deserved cream tea upon your return.

Due to capacity restrictions we have a limit of 500 places available, which will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. You are very welcome to bring your dogs along with you, however, as the event is on a private estate, please ensure they are kept on a lead at all times and you dispose of any mess.

The Farleigh Estate has a huge amount of history. If you decide to walk the 5 mile route, you will pass by St. Andrew Church which now stands in isolation. Back in the 17th Century, the area around the Church was the village of Farleigh Wallop; however, the houses are believed to have been destroyed during the Civil War.

On both routes, you will see a glimpse of Farleigh House, where Lord Lymington currently resides. The Farleigh Estate has been in the Wallop family since 1430, however, the house was rebuilt in 1730 following a fire. In 1954, it became a prep school for boys until Quentin Wallop modernised the house and gardens living with his family from 1989 – 2014.

Entry Fee:

Adult: £15.00

Child: £8.00

Family (2 adults + 2 children): £34.00

Please be aware that there are stiles on both the routes, making our walks unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

For more information and to register online, please click here.

Registration closes on Thursday 4th April.

Light Up A Life

Join us for this year's Light Up a Life service.Held at St. Michael’s Hospice, this event gives individuals and families the opportunity to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one or someone special by dedicating a star as part of our Light up a Life appeal. Our special commemorative service offers time to reflect and share memories with those closest to us.

The service also includes Christmas carols sung by Ooh Mama Ladies Choir, Viables Voices and the Basingstoke Hospital Male Voice Choir, as well as music from the Basingstoke Silver Band. We will also be serving mince pies and mulled wine which have been kindly donated by local supermarkets and the Apollo Hotel.

Our Light up a Life appeal and service is open to everyone, not just those who have been touched by our Hospice care. Please remember to wrap up warm if you plan to attend the service as we expect it to last around 40 minutes.

Limited parking will be available at Parklands (opposite the Hospice entrance), which is no longer than a 5 minute walk away from the event. We kindly ask you to consider car sharing or using public transport where possible to alleviate as much congestion around the site as possible. If you require disabled parking, please advise our marshals on the night who will accommodate this as best we can.

This year for those of you who are unable to attend the service, we will be uploading our Order of Service the week after the event onto this page for you to view.

If you wish to dedicate a star in memory of a loved one or someone special this festive season, we will send you two stars. The first star will be for you to write the name of your loved one and place on your Christmas tree, mantelpiece or in a special place to you. The second star can be brought with you to the service, where you will be able to place it on our memory board. After the service, this will be on display in our Chapel throughout December when you are welcome to visit at any time.

I would like to add my star to the sky.

*Please note, for dedications to be included in our order of service, we must have received them by Friday 23rd November.

Moonlight Walk

Join us for this year's Moonlight Walk.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

This year’s Moonlight Walk is going to be 80s themed! So dust off the crimpers, grab your legwarmers out of the drawer and come and join our fun night out on Saturday 13th October at 22.00. This year we encourage you to dress up in fun 80’s style clothing, this is optional, and on the night we will also have lots of products on offer on the night for you to accessories your outfits with on the night!

Starting from Porchester Square (outside Marks and Spencer) in Festival Place this 8 ½ mile walk is fully marshalled and open to men, women and children (ages 7 + who must be accompanied by an adult). Prices are £17 for adults and £10 for children.

You may choose to walk to remember a loved one, catch up with friends and family or use it as a team building evening with your colleagues. Whatever your reason for walking, we would love to see you.

Your entry fee includes the cost of staging the event, an exclusive 80’s themed Moonlight Walk medal and refreshments on your return. This is a sponsored event and we encourage you, where possible, to raise as much sponsorship from family, friends, work colleagues and neighbours. The easiest way to raise money is by creating an online fundraising page with Virgin Money Giving or Just Giving.

Click here for guidance on how to set up an online fundraising page.

Please do remember to ask your sponsors to ‘Gift Aid’ their donation if they are a UK taxpayer as we can claim an extra 25% at no extra cost to you or your sponsors. All they need to do is tick the box and fill out their full name, address and postcode.

You will need to collect your walker number on the night, which will be organised in alphabetical order by surname. When you collect your walker number you MUST sign in and then when you cross the finish line in Festival Place ensure you sign out, this is extremely important as it will enable us to track when all of our walkers have returned safely.

Your event information for the night is available here.

A sponsorship form for donations is available here.
