Posted on behalf of Butterfly Conservation
The Bog Squad will be clearing pine and birch scrub at Wester Moss in order to protect it's valuable peatland habitat.

Invasive scrub if left to grow will take vital water resources away from the bog which threatens the specialised flora and fauna that live there such as the Large Heath butterfly. We’ll be using tools such as loppers, saws and mini mattocks to remove the scrub.

Wester Moss SSSI is a small lowland bog located by the village of Fallin near Stirling.

Transport to the site is available from our Stirling Office (and occasionally pick-ups can be arranged for places en-route) - please get in touch to arrange this.

Start: 10am at Wester Moss (We'll give you directions and information)

Finish: 3pm

Please bring: Water, lunch, wellies or sturdy waterproof walking boots and work clothes - including waterproofs. Be prepared for cold conditions and bring a warm hat, fleece etc..and a sense of humour!

Please let us know you're coming by contacting David Hill on dhill@butterfly-conservation.org or 01786 459813

This work is kindly supported by the SNH-led Peatland Action Fund
